Joy Auld, APRN-CNP
My parents are both physicians, which made the medical field very appealing growing up. Initially, I received my RN, BSN from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2007. I worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City on an intermediate care unit for about three years. After a medical mission trip to Swaziland (now called the Kingdom of Eswatini) in Africa in 2010, I felt led to further my education and become a Nurse Practitioner. Ultimately, I wanted to be able to help patients in a more advanced role. When I got back home, I quickly started applying to programs and ended up attending Midwestern State University. I obtained my Masters in Nursing and started practicing as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2013 in a primary care setting.
I am originally from Topeka, KS, but my husband, whom I met in college, was born and raised in McAlester. He played the long game and successfully convinced me to move here and I have loved it! We have two beautiful children, William and Hazel. We also have one dog named Jett, who is sweet, skittish and obeys us most of the time. Besides spending time with family, I enjoy singing, playing the piano, and learning to play the mandolin. I also love being out on the lake, water sports, hiking, camping, traveling, and attending Renewal Church. We recently got a 1979 Minnie Winnebago that we plan on updating. If you happen to see one on the side of the road, you might stop and see if it is your friendly neighborhood Nurse Practitioner.
